About the Item

Striking and quintessentially Art Deco, this high-style face jar, enrobed in a pale ivory glaze, was designed by Madeleine Sougez for the famed Primavera ceramic workshop in the 1930s. Primavera was established by the famous Le Printemps department store in Paris, and employed a number of famous artists including René Buthaud. Another example of this jar is held by the famed Hearst Castle in California. This jar is marked "Primavera" on the bottom, and the remnants of an old label remain.
