Estrid Ericson Pewter Bowl with lid adorned with a flower bud Svenskt Tenn, 1944

About the Item

Estrid Ericso, pewter bowl with a lid adorned with a flower bud, manufactured by Svenskt Tenn, 1944. Estrid Ericson was involved in shaping the image of modern Swedish design during the 20th century, her perspective on beauty, functionality, and the significance of craftsmanship. It was indeed Josef Frank who designed the furniture and textiles, but it was Estrid Ericson (1894 – 1981) who had an eye for how they would be best showcased. Together, the two transformed the bare and stark functionalism into something soft and homely. Their version was international and sophisticated, incorporating patterns, colors, and objects without losing its simplicity. For Estrid Ericson, the good life was not just about luxury and exclusivity, but equally about thoughtfulness and refinement, in the literal sense of the word. Fearlessly, she blended the high with the low and the old with the new.
