About the Item

We kindly invite you to read the full description, as we aim to provide detailed technical and historical information to ensure the authenticity of our pieces. Elegant and distinctive cachepot in porcelain stoneware—a high-fired ceramic known for its exceptional strength and density, commonly used for high-quality decorative and interior design objects. The surface was wheel-thrown and finished with a matte glaze, featuring subtle tonal variations that highlight its artisanal craftsmanship. The decoration, entirely hand-painted (as indicated by the décor main inscription on the base), portrays a stylized female figure inspired by African art. Rendered in black silhouette against a light background, the design reflects the primitivist and modernist aesthetic of the 1950s. On the reverse, a geometric ornamental motif provides visual balance to the composition. The underside bears the signature "Milet", the impressed mark “Sèvres”, and the hand-inscribed décor main, confirming its handmade origin. This type of marking is typical of independent studios or small ateliers associated with the modern-era production in the Sèvres district. The artist, Paul Milet, was an active ceramist during the second half of the 20th century, known for his collaborations with the Sèvres workshops—one of France’s most historically significant ceramic institutions. Though not widely known to the general public, Minet's work is highly regarded for its graphic quality and refined formal language. Pieces signed “Milet Sèvres” are typically dated between the 1940s and 1960s. This cachepot can be dated to around 1950. Its tall, tapered shape and matte finish, combined with the striking contrast between the black stylized decorations and the pale background, make it a compelling example of post-war French ceramic modernism. The graphic balance and formal precision of the decoration are in perfect harmony with the modernist artistic movements of the time. The “Milet Sèvres” signature and décor main inscription on the base testify to the object's fine craftsmanship and uniqueness. This refined cachepot is ideal for enhancing modernist, eclectic, or Mid-Century interiors. Whether used as a decorative vase or a standalone ceramic sculpture, it can be displayed atop a vintage console, a high-quality wooden bar cabinet, or even in a minimalist space, where its bold graphic presence and clean lines will become a visual focal point. Also perfect for collectors of artist ceramics or for adding a touch of sophisticated exoticism to a reading nook or bookcase. The cachepot is in good vintage condition. Dimensions: diameter 27 cm (10.6 in), height 26 cm (10.2 in). For all our shipments, we use professional packaging materials (wooden crates, polystyrene, etc.) to ensure maximum protection and safety during transport.

Saint Clement Blanche Letalle French Art Deco Vase In Ceramic And Pure Gold
By Blanche Letalle, Saint-Clément
Located in Prato, Tuscany
We kindly invite you to read the entire description, as we strive to provide detailed technical and historical information to ensure the authenticity of our items. This distinctive and captivating vase stands out for its understated Pompeian red color, admired for its exceptional elegance and plasticity. The body is adorned with linear, refined, stylized stars in relief, embellished with pure gold accents. The pottery used is glazed earthenware, and the glossy finish suggests the use of vitreous glazes to achieve a bright, uniform effect. The gilding on the stars was likely applied using the ceramic lustre technique, where gold is added at a low temperature after the initial firing, resulting in a shiny and durable finish. The vase was crafted in the Art Deco style between 1930 and 1935 at the Saint Clement pottery...
