About the Item

Original studio art Meissen, the oldest porcelain manufactory in Germany. Designed by Ludwig Zeppner for Meissen around 1960. nickname is ''Fernsehturm'' (meanig tv-tower), the design is an abstract ''homage'' to the television tower built in the eastern part of Berlin at the time. Wonderful, minimalist mid-century design. Manufactory: Meissen State Porcelain Manufactory. Design: Ludwig Zeppner. Underglaze blue sword mark 1950-present, 1st choice (best quality) Date of manufacture approx. 1973. Marks: Underglaze blue swords mark & line Model/shape number: 50185 143X Press mark: swords / white Ludwig Zeppner won the Art Prize of the GDR (GDR) in 1973, together with Rudi Stolle, Peter Strang and Heinz Werner). And in 1981 the Design Prize of the German Democratic Republic (GDR).
