About the Item

Rare, amazing hand-crafted 20th century Loetz Witwe vase from the Art Nouveau period in Bohemia (former Czech Republic) around 1915. This mesmerizing, so-called "Jack in the pulpit" glass vase shows the amazing looking papillon decor with beautiful melted silver-yellow crumbs over a rubin/ pink mouthblown glass body. The production of this decoration was simply created by rolling it in silver yellow crumbs. Lötz Witwe has succeeded in producing an enormous variety of different looks through the subsequent iridescence with various metal salts and the use of differently sized and shaped silver-yellow crumbs. An absolutely breathtaking iridescent surface which shimmers in magically shades of silver, yellow, purple and blue tones. The lovely wide opened blossom finalizes the incredible appearance of this eye-catching Loetz Witwe glass vase. A true 20th century masterpiece of bohemian glass art out of the famous workshops in Klostermuehle, coming in perfect original condition. Signed on the bottom with a masters mark.
