Brocca in ceramica dipinta a mano, realizzata da Bruno Gambone negli anni '70 Ø cm 20 h cm 17 Bruno Gambone (1936-2021) è stato un influente ceramista e artista italiano, ampiamente riconosciuto per il suo significativo contributo alla ceramica tradizionale e contemporanea. Nato a Vietri sul Mare, in provincia di Salerno, proveniva da una famiglia di artisti di spicco, essendo figlio di Guido Gambone, uno dei principali ceramisti italiani della metà del XX secolo. Il percorso artistico di Gambone iniziò in giovane età, apprendendo l'arte della ceramica nella bottega del padre a Firenze a 14 anni. Tuttavia, era determinato a tracciare la propria strada, esplorando altri percorsi artistici come la decorazione di tessuti e la pittura. La sua prima mostra di pittura si tenne a Firenze nel 1959. Un periodo cruciale del suo sviluppo fu il soggiorno a New York, dal 1963 al 1968, dove si immerse nella vivace scena artistica, interagendo con artisti di fama come Robert Rauschenberg, Roy Lichtenstein e Andy Warhol. Questa esperienza ampliò i suoi orizzonti nella pittura, nella scultura, nel cinema e nel teatro. Al suo ritorno in Italia nel 1968, si stabilì a Milano, dove entrò in contatto con artisti contemporanei come Enrico Castellani, Lucio Fontana e Paolo Scheggi. Nel 1969, dopo la morte del padre, Gambone tornò a Firenze per dirigere lo studio di ceramica di famiglia. Pur essendo profondamente radicato nella ceramica, Gambone mantenne un approccio sperimentale, incorporando le sue esperienze nella pittura e in altre forme d'arte nelle sue opere ceramiche. Le sue opere mostrano spesso un distacco dallo stile più esuberante del padre, caratterizzato da forme più lineari, decorazioni più semplici e toni tenui, influenzati dall'arte minimalista degli anni '60 e '70. Esplorò anche altre arti applicate, tra cui il vetro e il design di gioielli. Bruno Gambone fu membro del Consiglio Nazionale della Ceramica e dell'Accademia di Ginevra e ricoprì per un decennio la carica di Presidente dell'ASNART (Associazione Italiana Artigiani Artistici), divenendone in seguito Presidente Onorario. Nel 1997 è stato nominato Direttore Artistico del Premio Ceramico Italiano di Vietri sul Mare. Le sue opere sono state ampiamente esposte, anche in prestigiose manifestazioni come la Biennale di Venezia (1972) e la XV Triennale di Milano (1973). Le ceramiche di Gambone sono molto ricercate e considerate opere d'arte da collezione a livello internazionale. È scomparso a Firenze nel 2021.
