About the Item

Set of a bowl and small ever shaped vase was made by Carstens Tönnieshof with complex, textured lava white and buttery yellow glazes on light grey glaze background with gold accents throughout. The bowl has monochromatic black glaze on the bottom surfaces, and the vessel has the same black glaze on inner surfaces. Both bowl and vase have gold trims on the rims. The combination of Modernist shapes of the pieces and minimal color palette allows the set to be a perfect addition to a wide variety of the interiors, and makes it a perfect gift to a Mid-Century Modern pottery collectors or design enthusiasts. The pieces are signed with "W. Germany" and model numbers on the bottoms. The set is in good vintage condition; the vase stands 8.45" tall, 3.2" wide, and 2.8" deep; the measurements for the bowl are 1.25" tall, 6.25" wide, and 6" deep. We are offering a set of large bowl and a vase, made by Carstens Tönnieshof in the same glaze finish, in separate listing. Carstens operated from 1945 to 1987; it was founded by brothers Christian and Ernst Carstens after they lost most of their factories to the DDR. The Carstens Uffrecht factory in East Germany became the manufacturer VEB Haldensleben. The Carstens Tonnieshof factory was located in Freden an der Leine (West Germany), and designers included Trude Carstens (wife of Ernst Carstens), Heinz Siery, Gerda Heuckeroth and Dieter Peter.
