About the Item
A scarce and unusual Studio Pottery vase decorated in a Chinese foliate design by renowned potter Charles Vyse (British, 1882 – 1971) and made at his Chelsea, London studios in 1928. The heavily potted vase is of tall bulbous shape standing on a narrow flat round foot and is decorated with a continuous panel of Chinese style foliated resist patterns and decorated in brown tenmoku glazes. The vase is signed CV and dated 1928 to the base and is a rare and early example of this sought after artists work.
Provenance: Allegedly acquired from Bonhams in 2002 and thence from a large collection acquired from the UK Art Market.
In good condition with wear associated with age and use.
