About the Item

Pottery Pitcher enameled, design Nanni VALENTINI for Bruno BARATTI. ORIGIN Pesaro DESIGNER Gian Battista (Nanni) VALENTINI, founder of the Arcore Ceramics factory, was born in 1932, in S. Angelo in Vado, in the province of Pesaro. In 1967 he founded with Marco and Tina Terenzi, his wife, the 'Arcore Ceramics' manufactory... died in Vimercate, in the province of Milan, in 1985. MARK In 1939 Bruno BARATTI, after having worked since the age of fifteen at the Pesaro factory 'Ciccoli Ceramiche' owned by Pietro Ciccoli, opened his own workshop in Pesaro on Via Condotti. Out of the kiln, in which he worked alone until the postwar years, came ceramics and majolica, including some unique pieces, with a modern flavor and full of creative flair. In 1942 and 1947 the manufactory ranked first in the Faenza competition. From the second half of the 1940s the workshop was attended by many talented young students including Gian Battista Valentini, Renato Bertini, Auro Salvaneschi, Mario Terenzi, Romolo Verzolini and Ferruccio Marchetti. In 1957 the firm opened a second workshop on the premises at 22 Collenuccio Street in Pesaro. In 1958 he collaborated with the Antonio Lani manufactory. Since the 1970s, the owner's granddaughter, Silvana Baratti, has been collaborating in the production and management of the company.
