Glazed Ceramic Stoneware Vessel by Jenny Hata Blumenfield
About the Item
Vibrant, contemporary ceramic sculpture by Los Angeles-based artist and curator Jenny Hata Blumenfield. A gorgeous vessel that is an energetic accent to any room.
A vibrant, sunny yellow glaze provides a background for drippy bursts of matcha tea-green, almost resembling abstracted ginkgo leaves, while the apparition of a vase form appears in the center, awash in pale sage green, with drip lines reminiscent of the veining of a leaf. Blumenfield's works are known for subverting existing tropes of the feminine identity, craft and liminality through the lens of playful symbolism, offering viewers a different way to see the world around them. This glazed stoneware vessel, by utilizing optical illusion, reveals a vase within a vase, depending on from which angle you perceive it. What first appears to be a single vase, becomes a double vase, becomes a triple vase. A truly stand-out object of collectible design by an emerging artist of note.
