Isak Isaksson, Vase with Crystalline Glaze, Contemporary Swedish Ceramicist

About the Item

A unique vase in a Metal blue/brown-tone with a lovely crystalline glaze designed by the contemporary Swedish artist Isak Isaksson in his own studio. The vase is 27.5 cm (11") high and in mint condition. Isak is one of the most well known contemporary ceramic artists in Sweden. The glaze is made with iron oxide and then the vase is reduction burned which means that the oxygen in the oven to create this magnificent glaze. This is a technique that only a few person in the world masters. Isak Isaksson was born in 1949 and is one of Sweden´s leading contemporary ceramic artists. Isak has become a master in throwing and a specially in glazing. Isak has been exhibit numerous of times all over the world and in 2019 he received the title of certified ceramic master – the highest recognition in Swedish pottery. He is a master of the crystalline glazes which makes his artworks really unique. Isak is the only westerner who has received the Sen Hounzai Soshitsu Prize in Japan for his chawan. He as represented at a several museums, including the Swedish National Museum.
