About the Item

Large zoomorphic vase in red fat lava by JASBA - 1970 - West Germany ceramics Superb zoomorphic vase by the JASBA workshop in red fat lava. This is a rare piece. It is an eye-catcher with its vivid color and geometric motifs. This vase will blend perfectly with a Mid-modern century style living room as well as a more contemporary ambiance. The vase is in very good condition. --------------------------------- The West German ceramics that emerged in the post-war period were marked by two influences. The first was Scandinavian, with its elegant, uncluttered and balanced production. The second, Italian, was more colorful and sculptural. Production ranges from the 1950s to the 1970s. Works from the 1950s feature pastel colors, geometric or biomorphic decorations and graphics. The decorations are asymmetrical. Ceramics from the 1960s feature more colorful motifs, with contrasting browns, reds, oranges and even greens. Geometric motifs borrowed from architecture become more common. The '70s saw pottery with more extravagant shapes, colors and patterns, with zoomorphic inspiration playing a major role in pieces from this period. Each piece is individually glazed, making it unique.
