About the Item

Handmade studio pottery vases in a white crater glaze by working studio potter, Jeremy Briddell (b.1971). Pieces shown here range from 10"-17" tall. Incredibly well-thrown and beautifully balanced, each vessel is unique and perfect. Groupings of these vessels create a mesmerizing, biomorphic forest that become the sculptural centerpiece of any room. The artist is happy to produce custom pieces and groupings. Please contact us to discuss. BIO: Jeremy Briddell is a potter who excels at both skillful wheel work and a keen eye for color and form. He completed his undergraduate study at the Kansas City Art Institute with Victor Babu and George Timmock, and was a student during Ken Ferguson's final three years of teaching. He received his MFA at Arizona State University in 2000. Briddell spent time as a studio assistant for John Balistreri, Ken Ferguson and Jun Kaneko. In 2001, Briddell received the American Crafts Council Emerging Artists Award and in the summer of 2013, he was awarded a summer residency at the prestigious Archie Bray Foundation. His work is in many important private collections, including Garth Clark and Mark Del Vecchio. Influenced by the forms of Lucie Rie and the glaze work of Gertrud + Otto Natzler, Briddell admits, "I have always been comfortable working with clay at the wheel, but have never had the discipline for functional work. My forms, while rooted in function, are meant to be objects that both occupy a defined space but more importantly relate to their surroundings. Process, formal issues of interior and exterior space, scale and texture drive most of my creative choices and I want each piece to reflect all of the individual decisions made to create it.".

Large 10-arm round "Ludo" Chandelier shown in natural brass and our "Perfect White" enamel fabricated in NYC by Blueprint Lighting. The wide band and distinct shape make the Ludo a strong design statement and an exercise in playful modernism. Swiveling head allows for cone adjustment. Stylish Pair Graduated Brown Glazed Studio Pottery Moon Vases

A very well made and stylish pair graduated studio pottery moon vases believed to date from the 20th century and probably originating from the UK. The stoneware vases are lightly potted standing on flat narrow oval shaped bases and both are hand crafted in narrow round moon shape with short narrow funnel necks and slighted everted thicker opening. The vases are decorated in splashed tenmoku brown glazes on a red brown glazed ground with a linear pattern running diagonally across the bodies. Both vases have impressed marks which we have been unable to identify, one with a series of collectors paper labels suggesting possible makers. However we have been unable to verify any of these. The dimensions provided are for the larger vase and the smaller example measures: height 16 cm, width 12.5 cm and depth 4.5 cm. Absolutely stunning display pieces...
