Mike Dodd Studio Pottery Ash Glazed Vase with Seeding Grasses
About the Item
A stylish ash glazed stoneware studio pottery vase decorated with seeding grasses by renowned potter Mike Dodd (British, b.1943) and dating from the latter 20th Century. The heavily potted vase stands raised on a narrow round unglazed foot with recessed base with a tall bulbous body with a narrow pinched neck and a thick bowl shaped top. The body of the vase is decorated with hakeme banding in brown with incised seeding grasses applied to two sides with brown brushwork. The vase is decorated in honey colored glazes with lighter glazes applied to the top rim. With impressed potters personal seal mark to the lower edge of the vase.
Provenance: from the collection of a private gentleman and originating from the UK art market.
