Modern Czech Pressed Glass Vase by Frantisek Vizner for Sklo Union Rosice, 1963

About
František Vízner (1936-2011) was one of the prominent Czech glass artists of the 20th. century. This beautiful piece #1102/20, in brilliant clear pressed glass, was created in 1963 at Sklo Union Rosice and consists of a cylindrical form encased by thick lines of leaded pressed glass forming a winged and optic square shape. Heavy yet quite regal.
Vizner started working in Sklo Union Glassworks, former Dubí u Teplic, in the early 60s. At Sklo, he designed beautiful, pressed glass pieces until 1967 when he left to work for Šrkdlovice. Here Vizner designed blown glass pieces and later worked with cut glass, once he opened his own studio.
