About the Item
A stunning Danish mid-century Royal Copenhagen Aluminia Fajence art pottery vase from the Solberg series designed by renowned ceramicist Nils Thorsson (Swedish, 1898-1975) in the 1930’s dating from 1953. The unusual shaped ceramic vase stands raised on a narrow round foot supporting a flattened half round shaped body with a wide flat over hanging rim. The body of the vase is molded in relief with a fish swimming alongside a shell with the pattern repeated to both sides. The vase a beautiful satin brown glazed finish and has printed makers marks to the base along with numbers 1873 and 1602 and has date code u above the A in Denmark dating the vase from 1953.
Provenance: Acquired in the UK Art Market.
In good condition with light wear associated with age and use.
