Pair of Mid-19th Century Vases in Ural Granite and Gilt Bronze, Louis XVI Style

About the Item

Pair of Ural granite and gilt bronze ornamental vases in Louis XVI style. Young women in gilt bronze sit on the shoulders of the granite vases to form the handles, their backs bent slightly forward under the weight of the garlands they are wearing on their shoulders. Their legs transform into intertwining foliage. Friezes of lambrequin and beads decorate the paunch. Small, gilt bronze beads adorn the foot, which is supported by a square base chiseled with flowers and ribbing, circa 1850. Dimensions: W 10.2 in, D 7.9in, H 20.5in. Dimensions: L 26cm, P 20cm, H 52cm.
