Swedish Upsala-Ekeby Graphic Decor Vases, 1960s
About the Item
Rare pair of Swedish Mid-Century Modern handmade and hand decorated ceramic vases with semi-crackle glaze. By acclaimed Estonian-Swedish designer Mari Simmulson (1911-2000) who designed for Upsala Ekeby from 1949-1972. Model 1102M. Chamotte clay shaped by hand and fully glazed with glossy cream white and warm brown with small caramel dots. Hand decorated graphic patterns on the belly of the vase, two large circles on each side and a striped band between them. Manufactured by Upsala Ekeby in Sweden in the 1960s. Due to the handmade nature of these vases, each item is unique. Stamped under base. Both vases are in beautiful condition. A rare set.
