Toshiko Takaezu Early Vase

About the Item

Early vase by renowned Japanese American ceramicist Toshiko Takaezu. This handmade vessel features a soft, rounded form with a wide opening, and a rich palette earthtones in ochre, mustard, and deep black within the interior. The artist's hand is evident in the subtle ridges and gentle bulges, adding depth and character to the piece. Its rich earth-tone glaze along with its organic, rounded form, are signature elements of her work, evoking a contemplative relationship with the material. This glazed stoneware piece embodies Takaezu's profound connection to traditional Japanese pottery and the American studio ceramics movement. Presents beautifully. The vase is marked with an incised 'TT' signature on the underside. Artist: Toshiko Takaezu Date: c. 1965 Dimensions: 10.5" H x 10" Dia
