Very Old Chinese Antique Pottery Vase/Wabisabi Vase/before 9th Century

About the Item

This is a very old pottery jar excavated in China. The surface has deteriorated like this because it was buried in the soil. It has a cool expression that makes you feel very wabi-sabi. This vase was made around 2,200 years ago, when there were many countries in China, until they were unified into a country called Han. Before this period, the temperature of the kiln was low and soft pottery was mainly produced, but from this period, the airtightness of the kiln temperature increased and the firing temperature increased, making it possible to fire pottery at a temperature of 1000 degrees or more. I was. As a characteristic of this period, unglazed yakishime pottery was made all over China and produced as everyday containers. The color is finished in ash because it is baked with a reduction flame. Another feature is the fine pattern on the surface. This pattern is created by tapping the surface of the pottery. In Japan, this kind of pottery is called "Inmon-Koto" (meaning hard pottery with a pattern). Also, because it is baked hard, it makes a high-pitched sound like a metallic sound when tapped with a finger. Because this kind of pottery is hard, it is excavated in a relatively well-preserved state. This pottery also has a small chip in one place at the mouth of the tip, but other than that there is no damage and it can be said that it is in very good condition. As a reference, I have attached a photo of a pot with a hammered pattern and a photo of a pot with a similar shape to this one.
