Very Rare Max Laeuger Art Nouveau Vase with Bird Motifs

Vase Max Laeuger Description: Vase, clay, yellowish shards, pottery. Blue, black and yellow decorative painting with long twigs, leaves, berries and birds on a gray background. Transparent glazed, also on the inside (craquelure). Signed ML 3035 on the underside. Size: 14.0 x 14.0 cm. VITA: The architect Josef Maximilian or Max Laeuger for short was born on September 30, 1864 in Lörrach. Laeuger was not only an architect, but in the spirit of Art Nouveau a universal artist who also worked and was successful as an interior and garden architect, graphic artist, painter, glass painter and above all as a ceramist. Laeuger studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Karlsruhe and worked there as a full professor until 1933. Max Laeuger is regarded as a Pioneer of German art ceramics of the 20th century. His works were shown at numerous world exhibitions and caused a sensation there.

    LEO ERB 1923 – 2012 Multiple in cardboard slipcase with original box and leaflet, each typographically printed. Casting compound, painted white. From the limited edition of 500 copies. Based on the line sculpture from 1992. Each copy numbered on the underside. Signed and dated (recessed) on the base. From the Edition Art Collection 2002 published by the Friends of the University of Applied Sciences Hof, Hof /Saale. The copy number shown in the photo may differ from the one offered. Size relief: 20 x 5.5 x 5.5 cm. From 1940 to 1943 Erb attended the Kunstgewerbeschule in Kaiserslautern, where the St. Ingbert artist Albert Weißgerber had previously completed his initial training around the turn of the century. In the years 1946/1947 he attended the school for arts and crafts in Saarbrücken. There he studied with Boris Kleint, who represented the Bauhaus theory (color type theory) of the Bauhaus teacher Johannes Itten. Already in his early years (1948/1949) Erb set up his own studio in his hometown. During this time he created his first linear paper cuts, sculptures and "line drawings". In 1957, together with his teacher Boris Kleint and other young Saarland artists, he founded the "Neue Gruppe Saar", which counted itself among the avant-garde of the time. From about 1958 he began his structured "Line Pictures" and "Line Reliefs", which he u. a. 1958 in Düsseldorf as part of the 7th evening exhibition “Das rote Bild” by the ZERO group in Düsseldorf. In 1961 Erb moved to Paris, where he lived until 1975 and worked in the studio he built himself.
