About the Item
Beautiful pair of early 1970s ceramic Modern Vessels by Josep Serra for Serra Studio in Catalonia, Spain.
Brown vase with striped designer on the body tapering to a solid coffee brown matte glaze. The inside with off white rim and rest in gray.
Blue white vessel in a variation of blues and rust concentric circles on the upper half on a off white body. With off white rim and dark blue glaze inside. Both signed SERRA and logo. Both in perfect condition, no issues.
Measurements: Brown Vase - 7 1/8 inches high x 3 1/2 inches diameter - Short Vase - 4 1/4 inches high x 3 1/2 inches diameter.
The Serra workshop was established in an old farmhouse in Baix de Llobregat outside Barcelona. Founded by the patriarch of the Serra Family, Antoni, the studio has continued making beautiful hand thrown ceramic through out by generations of Serra family.
Josep Serra (1906-1989) belonged to the 2nd. generation and was also an accomplished ceramist creating lovely vessels and figures.

About Serra:
Serra ceramics factory was a well known ceramics catalan manufacturer with three generations of ceramists. The workshop was founded by Antoni Serra one of the first ceramists in Spain who found an artistic ceramics workshop/studio. Josep Serra with his brothers Antoni and Enric followed his father in the art of ceramics at Can Famades, the new Studio at Cornellà, Barcelona. Josep Serra became the Manager at Cerámicas Serra at the 1930s.
The Serra brothers participated in different exhibitions and awards.
