About the Item
This is a solid, cast, English sterling silver wine label, marked RUM made by Thomas Willimore, of Birmingham, in 1815. (18th century George 111 period)
The label has a nice canted oblong shape, with a curved profile to wrap around a decanter.
The shape has a single incised line around its perimeter with the name; RUM engraved on it. The label has a good original interlocking link chain.
This label is fully hall marked to the back.
It weighs 6.2 gram.

This fine antique George III sterling silver decanter label / bottle ticket has a subtly convex, plain rectangular cut cornered form.
The body is embellished with the engraved inscription ‘RUM' to the center.
The antique decanter label is suspended from two ring loops to the upper border connected by a silver belcher style chain.
This fine example of Georgian silverware has been crafted by the Newcastle maker Thomas Watson but assayed in London; this was an occasional practice with smaller items of Newcastle silver, where no town mark was struck.
