About the Item

A classic Antique George III solid Silver Tankard with a traditional baluster shaped body and standing on a spread pedestal foot. The Lidded Beer Tankard has an ornate monogram engraved opposite the substantial scroll handle. Made in London in 1780 by Thomas Wallis. Approx. Weight - 765g / 24.59oz Approx. Height - 20.3cm This Tankard is in excellent condition with no damage. The Tankard has a full English Hallmark on the underside of the Body and inside the hinged lid. STOCK CODE - WIN01 GEO01.

    This is a fine quality, sterling silver tankard (Lidded Mug) crafted in 1757 (George 11 Period) by John Langlands of Newcastle upon Tyne, England. John Langlands is fully documented as a silversmith and this was his first period (1753-1772) as he was later also in partnership with John Robertson. This very impressive tankard has a plain tapering cylindrical form onto a spreading base. The body of the tankard is encircled with a reeded girdle, two thirds of the way down the body.
