An exceptional, fine and impressive antique George III Newcastle sterling silver tankard made by John Langlands I & John Robertson I; an addition to our Georgian silver tankard collection The body of this antique silver tankard is plain and encircled with a plain applied girdle, in addition to bands of tooled decoration. This 18th century silver tankard retains the original hallmarked domed hinged cover with an impressive cast scrolling thumbpiece. The hinge is decorated with pendant drop style ornamentation to the upper portion of the handle. This antique sterling silver tankard is fitted with a hallmarked S scroll handle ornamented with an impressive heart shaped decorated terminal. The handle of the tankard is further embellished with the engraved initials 'HTM', segmented with a quatrefoil motif. This exceptional example of Georgian silverware, crafted by the renowned and collectable Newcastle silversmiths John Langlands I & John Robertson I, is the finest of its type you could hope to acquire. Condition This antique 18th century silver tankard is a superior gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. Full British hallmarks struck to the surface of the tankard, in addition to part hallmarks to the cover and handle are all clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the superior gauge of silver. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this Georgian tankard.     An exceptional, fine and impressive, rare pair of antique George IV English sterling silver coasters made in Newcastle; part of our silver wine related collection. These exceptional antique George IV Newcastle sterling silver coasters have a circular rounded form. Each coaster has a wirework body which incorporates the original applied oval vacant cartouche encompassed with a thread decorated border. The upper rim of each coaster is ornamented with an undulating wirework border. The coasters are fitted with fine and impressive turned mahogany bases, embellished with the original silver buttons to the centre. These sterling silver coasters are fitted with green baize to the underside.
