Mid-19th Century French Leather Bound Book Box with Six Old Fashioned Glasses

About the Item

For a interesting bar accessory, look no further than this colorful antique Faux-book "Cave à Liqueur". Crafted in France, circa 1860, the liquor box is shaped like four antique books stacked together. Each book has a different name on the spine; one is titled "Spondami Epitome Annale", the next one, "Histoire de Louis XV", the next one is named "Consulat 1799-1815", and the bottom one, titled "Oeuvres Posthume" by Gustave Flaubert. When you lift the top, the Tantalus reveals an interior with glass compartment and dressed with six decorative old fashion glass tumblers from later addition, all embellished with embossed gilt motif. The faux book cave is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a rich patinated leather finish along with gilt tooling. A fine accessory for a wet bar or a gentleman's study! Each glass is 3.25"H Measures: 14.5" W x 9.75" D x 8"H.
