About the Item

Striking vintage porcelain coasters feature blue geometric pattern on bright white porcelain background, creating an abstract decor in distinctive Scandinavian blue and white colors. Arabesque series was created by Niels Refsgaard for Dansk; it is inspired by a mix of Japanese and Greek hand-painted pottery. Dansk catalogue describes it as "the timeless pattern is both rustic and elegant, making it the perfect, flexible choice for many styles of entertaining." The series is currently discontinued. The coasters are marked on the bottoms with blue underglaze "Dansk Japan" stamps; the mark dates the pieces to the earlier years of production, as later the manufacturing shifted to Taiwan, Sri Lanka, and Philippines. The convenient coupe shape of the coasters with elevated rims allows them to be used as a small dishes; the traditional blue and white palette makes it easier to mix and match with the other pieces in the tablescape on in the bar area. The elegant and decorative set will make a great gift to a porcelain collector or design enthusiast and will complement various tablescapes and home bar setting styles, from Traditional to Mid Century Modern, Eclectic, Scandinavian Modern, Japandi, Transitional, Grand Millennial, Glam, Maximalist, Collected, or Contemporary.
