Massive MCM Italian Silver Giant Clam Shell Centerpiece
About the Item
Spectacular, very large MCM Italian silver giant clam shell centerpiece.
Fabulous for serving oysters, lobster, calamari and other Frutti di Mare.
Hand hammered, finely hand chased, superb quality on par with Buccellati. Marvelous sculptural octopus and triton shell decoration at top right. Three solid silver starfish serve as feet, dancing on a wave motif base with a giant starfish at the center.
Solid 800 purity silver weighting 1680 grams/ 54 troy ounces.
Makers mark partially obscured, with MI for Milan and 800 for silver.
Very good estate condition, light surface wear commensurate with age.
