Berndt Friberg, Stoneware Deep Brown and Blue Bowl, Gustavsberg, Sweden, 1952

About the Item

Berndt Friberg, Stoneware Bowl with deep brown and blue haresfur glaze, Gustavsberg, Sweden 1952 Impressed "Friberg" "G (hand) " Incised "V" The entire surface is covered with a dark, deep Blue glaze, and then a double layer of brown glaze is applied on top of the deep Blue glaze. Around the mouth rim and foot ring, a bright lapis lazuli look can be seen, and the contrast is striking. The glaze has a fine, fine hairline and flows beautifully down from the mouth rim to the base. The shape of this Friberg vessel is a regular circle with the rim twisted by hand to form a soft triangle when viewed from above, and when viewed from the side, the rim has a unique undulation, a standard Friberg shape. All of the pieces produced in the 50's are attractive with their thinly made potter's wheel and bright, deep-colored glaze, and this piece is also delicately made right in the middle of the 50's. In good condition. The vessel has been examined by an expert by UV light and visual inspection to ensure that there are no repairs and that it is not twice kiln fired.
