About the Item
This is a good stone China (Ironstone) Desert Plate, hand painted in the tobacco leaf pattern, number 2061, made by the Copeland (Spode) factory in the 19th century, English Victorian period, circa 1865.
The Plate is made from Ironstone China and beautifully decorated with hand painted enamels in the very distinctive tobacco leaf pattern, pattern number 2061. The decoration is enhanced with hand gilded gold detailing.
The base has the "Copeland" Stone China, blue printed mark, as used by the factory from 1851-1885 and the pattern number 2061 is hand painted in red by the foot rim.
Overall a beautiful English hand decorated plate.
