Goldscheider Vienna dancing lady wearing fine dancing dress with spaghetti straps, decorated with nicest flowers' pattern: This figurine shows the famous actress Lilian Harvey. Designed by Stefan (= Stephen) Dakon (1904-1992), modelled, circa 1926/27 made circa 1930. model number 6211 / 259 / 10 - 3. EXPLANATION: Although this figurine is signed with 'Lorenzl' at base, this model was created by Stephen Dakon ( = this signature is an error by modeller as Goldscheider experts are recording: DECHANT / GOLDSCHEIDER, GOLDSCHEIDER: FIRMENGESCHICHTE UND WERKVERZEICHNIS / HISTORY OF THE COMPANY AND CATALOGUE OF WORKS, STUTTGART (GERMANY), 2007, PAGE 426, NUMBER 6211 ) HALLMARKED: Goldscheider WIEN (= VIENNA) stamp mark Made in Austria HAND - DECORATED painter's signs existing SUBJECT: A FIGURE OF A POSED LADY DANCER 'LILIAN HARVEY' The lady making a large step forwards holds one corner of her dress with right hand / her left arm is supported on left hip / the upper body is slightly bent backwards / the lady is looking towards the spectator / the dancing dress - having spaghetti straps - is shaded in greyish, creamy-white & blue as well as rose red colours / it is excellently painted with stunning flowers pattern / the figurine is based on oval creamy-white-brownish socle. The lady's hairstyle is typical for the Thirties. Lilian Harvey (1906 - 1968) was daughter of a British mother as well as of a German father. Harvey who became a famous actress, singer and dancer in the Twenties had been firstly taught - as from the year 1923 - at ballet school of German Opera of Berlin and was engaged as dancer in Hungary and Austria then. She cooperated in 12 films with Willy Fritsch, and in the year 1930 Harvey achieved the road to success by the romantic film LIEBESWALZER (= WALTZ OF LOVE). In the year 1931 the film 'Der Kongreß tanzt' (= The Congress Dances) was made, where Harvey sang a song called 'Christels Lied' (= SONG OF CHRISTEL), better known as 'Das gibt's nur einmal' (= IT OCCURS ONLY ONCE), which is well known until nowadays. Lilian Harvey's career was stopped in period of German National Socialism since she didn't cooperate with cruel politics: Therefore she had to emigrate to Southern France first and later to USA then. Harvey returned to Europe after end of Second World War, and settled in Germany as well as in France where she died in the year 1968.
