About the Item

Minton Majolica Taza, molded as an inverted mushroom, the bowl interior glazed in orange, with three naturalistically modeled and glazed frogs around the stem, on a round, plant and rock-work base. Impressed marks to reverse: 'MINTON;' date cypher for 1868; design number '1109,' which corresponds to the entry, 'Tazza, Frog Support (M)' in the Minton Ornamental Shapes (i.e., Design books) and reprinted in J. Jones (pp., 343-377).* For thirty years we have been among the preeminent specialist in fine antique majolica. *Joan Jones, MINTON: The First Two Hundred Years of Design and Production.
