Pair of Doulton Lambeth Faience Vases. J.P. Hewitt, circa 1885

About the Item

A fine pair of Doulton Lambeth faience vases, painted by John P. Hewitt, circa 1885. Both vases, beautifully hand painted with semi naked girls, posing in diaphanous drapes, whilst standing, bare foot on grass. The rims, with continuous bands of floral scroll, on gilt grounds, the bases, with a continuous lappet motif. One vase signed J.P.Hewitt. Printed factory marks, painted pattern numbers, and impressed marks to the bases. Medium: Earthenware Measures: Height 30.4 cm, 12”. Width 16cm, 6 1/4” Condition: Minute repair to chip to one gilt rim. In excellent condition.
