Important pair of hand-painted decorative earthenware plates by Jean Mayodon for Sevres, 1951; marked Sevres, initialed "M" and dated on bottom of the plates. Mayodon (1893-1967), artistic director of the Sevres Manufacture, is best known for his figurative decorative pottery in the antique tradition, characterized by stanniferous earthenware with "golden fire.".
