Sculptural Ceramic Vessel by Jacque Faus

About the Item

The rushed yet suggestive drawings, after enameling, reveal a diffuse landscape, as seen through a foggy glass, expanding the color that inhabits the grooves, in a constant dialogue between gesture and soil, working towards a replication of nature itself, down to its chaotic organization. By using any type of tools that can create texture on the clay such as dry points, spatulas, and the fingers themselves, applying to the surfaces of its unpretentious movements suggests a natural environment inhabited by plants, flowers, grass, i.e flora of its own

  • Ceramic, Porcelain Vein Vessel
    Located in Hermosa Beach, CA
This ceramic vessel works both as a decorative piece on its own or can be used as a vase. I made this piece mixing a combination of porcelain paper clay with a black sable clay. I fired this piece to a cone 10 high fire and used minimal glazing to really showcase the beautiful black clay. I am doing an entire series with this clay body and these pieces look great paired together. There are multiple shapes available so you can create a pairing in twos and threes. This design begins with a strong base, then I build these pieces up with coils and pinch...
