Set of Six Large Steuben Crystal Water Goblets, 1960s

Set of six crystal pedestal glasses for water, of classical shape and clean design. The base of each signed Steuben in script, 1960s -6 1/2 in. (16.5 cm) high; 3 3/4 in. (9.5 cm) diam. of bowl Provenance: Christie’s New York, 1982 For Steuben red wine glasses and small white wine glasses from the same service, each in sets of six, see Ref nos. 328M and 331M Steuben founded in America in 1903 was “a token of high end New York modernity from about 1930 to 1960” known for its high quality glass. It opened a store in the Steuben Corning building on Fifth Avenue and 56th street in 1937. Steuben was at its best when producing unfussy, classically elegant objects as seen in these beautiful goblets.
