Design: Chinese Ming Dish, Chinese Kraak style Style: Baroque, Antique, Asian antique, Oriental Origin: Netherlands, Delft mid 17th century ca 1650 - 1670 Colors: Blue and white Description: 17th century Delft blue and white dish. This Delft dish or Charger is a copy of an earlier Chinese Kraakware dish from the late 16th century early 17th century (1590-1610) Records of the Dutch East India Company( V.O.C.) show that by around 1650 Kraakware no longer being imported into the Netherland, however Kraak porcelain was still in fashion. The border with large panels with peach and auspicious symbols separated by narrow panels with beaded pendants. in the center an auspicious symbol Condition: good, the dish has deformation and the rim has glaze loss and chips which is typical of this type of Delftware. Diameter 13.7in - 35cm Delftware or Delft pottery is also known as Delft tinglazed earthenware. Delftware includes pottery objects of all descriptions such figurines, plates, vases and other ornamental forms and tiles. The start of the Delft style was around 1600. the most highly regarded period of production is about 1640–1740. Delftware continues to be produced. Arround 1640 Delft potters began using personal monograms and distinctive factory marks. Throughout the 17th and 18th centuries Delftware was a major industry, exporting all over Europe.
