Huge pair of stunning faience figurines of walking and roaring lions Manufactory: France (Lorraine) / St. Cle´ment Pottery (Gallé) Signed (underglazed) Please note: Emile Galle´ and his father Charles manufactured stunning faience fantasy & armorial pieces in a workshop at St.Clement during period as from the year 1864 until 1876 / the mentioned manufactory was owned by the Thomas Family then. St.Clement is situated in the neighbourhood of Nancy, the town where Emile Galle´ was born and where Charles Galle´ had a store selling finest crystal and ceramics items. Made circa 1892 Stunning models, abundantly painted with blue colours: material is faience / glazed / partially cobalt blue painted Hallmarked at upper side: name of manufactury: ' St. Cle´ment ' (blue painted and underglazed) Probably designed by Gengoult Prouve´ (attributed). Subject: Gorgeous sculptured pair of figurines, showing walking and roaring lions, having large paws with claws. Each of them holds a tower / the mentioned towers may have a function, too: A candle can be put into. Size: Height of lions: 37.0 cm / 14.56 inches Width: 24.5 & 25.5 cm / 9.64 & 10.03 inches Depth: 19.5 cm / 7.67 inches Inner diameter of tower: 3.4 cm / 1.33 inches .Excellent condition (there aren't any imperfections existing)
