Emile Galle signed Sailing ships cameo glass vase c1920

About the Item

Fabulous and very rare, medium large, Emile Galle cameo vase with sailing ships in predominantly blue, orange and purple (appearing as brown over the yellow), signed in cameo (image 5) - Provost Mk IV -see key- last image, produced c1920. In most of the sailing ships little people can be seen seated. This particular sailing boat design was made for smaller vases, at 8 1/2 inches, this is the biggest example we have seen of this particular design. - Galle sailing ship vases are very rare as Madame Galle (Emile's widow) disapproved of such images and they only came into production after her death. -The last photo image shows the vase in the sunlight. Emile Galle was probably the greatest glass maker of all time and one of the founding father's of the Art Nouveau movement.
