French Art Nouveau Emile Galle Cameo Glass Blue Mountain Night Light c1920
About the Item
Very rare late Art Nouveau Emile Galle Cameo glass 'blue mountain' landscape vase, depicting black trees against blue/green mountains and a lake tinted with pink. An exceptional image and colourway. Additionally the vase has it's original Galle nightlight attachment which fits snugly into the top (without damaging the vase) -
It is signed raised in cameo -see pic 5 (the signature is Provost Mk IV -see chart in final image -this signature dates the vase to 1920-36)
These nightlight fitments are Galle standards and examples can bee seen in the 1927 Galle Catalogue. For Electrical standards the wiring has been cut ultra short but can be easily replaced -there is no lightbulb present - but a small sewing machine bulb would probably fit (this should be checked with an Electrical professional).
Emile Galle was probably the greatest glass maker of all time and one of the founding father's of the Art Nouveau movement.
