A hand painted Japanese porcelain vase from the Fukagawa factory circa 1930

About the Item

This eye catching example from the highly acclaimed Japanese Fukagawa porcelain factory is traditionally hand decorated but with a contemporary twist to its design which reflects the time it was produced circa 1940. Its simple bulbous form with a narrow neck and fine gilt rim is in perfect balance with the foot. Its body is decorated with a continuous swirling design in blue and white which simulates running water. The vase is spectacularly enhanced with three dark blue ringed circular panels. Each is differently decorated with traditional floral displays of peonies and cherry blossoms hand painted in bright enamels and fine gilding. A very pleasing and striking vase in perfect condition, circa 1940 Height 20cm x width 20cm x depth 20cm
