About the Item
This is a very good English hand blown, Georgian drinking glass, sometimes called a "Dwarf Ale" glass, which we date to the mid-18th century.
This glass is individually hand blown, from lead glass which is characterised by its soft grey colour, its fairly heavy weight and the imperfections that occur naturally within the glass as part of the hand-blowing process.
The glass has a very good conical round funnel bowl which has been wrythen (twist fluted) along its length. The bowl sits on two (double) wrythen cushion knops with a short stem below, supported by a basal knop. The foot is plain with a good thickness and large diameter with a snapped-off pontil to the underside.

- Condition:Wear consistent with age and use. Two air bubbles to the foot and a tiny grit inclusion to the bowl. Please note that ALL 18th C hand blown glass has possible striations, inclusions, grit and air bubbles, which is normal to the hand blowing process giving each glass unique character.

18thC Georgian Wine Drinking Glass OXO Engraved Bowl solid Stem, Circa 1760

This is a very good hand-blown, English, mid-Georgian, Wine drinking glass with a round funnel (RF) engraved bowl on a solid stem, dating to the middle of the 18th century, circa 1760.
These glasses are very collectable. It is made from English lead glass which is relatively heavy and has a soft grey colour.
The RF (round funnel) bowl is well engraved with OXO under rim and a facet cut bowl base, sitting on a a solid stem, over a conical foot with a snapped off pontil below to the underside.
The foot has an under rim edge chip but is otherwise very good with on evidence of restoration.
(NOTE: We do not normally buy Georgian wine glasses...
