About the Item

A very fine and exceptionally rare very strong opalescent small deer statuette or paperweight standing on a rectangular base and stylised in a strong Art Deco form. The animal is most probably a roebuck. The piece was made by Choisy-le-Roi; the major Paris based producer of 'jobbing' opalescent glass. Choisy-le-Roi produced glass for many of the major French glass makers and also made custom glass for small Parisian retailer, such as Cesari and Ferjac. This small statuette is signed Cesari France (see pictures) -Little is known about Cesari except they commissioned a range of opalescent glass from Choisy-le-Roi, mostly birds and animals, many of which are highly prized by collectors We do not know of another example for this superb little Statuette. Choisy-le-Roi was taken over by the Sevres Glassworks in the late 1930s Sadly there are a couple of very minor chips to the base -which do not significantly affect the look of the piece.
