Antique & Large Hand Painted Colorful Flowers, with Butterfly Tile Serving Tray
Located in Lisse, NL
Rare and beautifully hand painted and glazed, porcelain tile in superb condition with branches frame serving tray. This beautiful quality and marvelous design tile serving tray is another one of our recent decorative finds and an absolute joy to own and to look at. We have recently listed on 1stdibs one of the largest, single tile serving trays and this is a similar, but smaller one. This fine specimen too is antique, hand-crafted AND hand-painted and this tile could not be in better condition also. There are absolutely no cracks in the porcelain tile and the glazed surface made sure that the hand painted colorful flowers with some insects and the stunning branch and leafs patterns have not faded at all. There is an elegance about the wonderfully flowing motion with which the beautifully colored flowers and leafs and branches are painted and that makes this antique an absolute joy to look at. The good size and thick tile is inlaid perfectly in the naturally beautiful and stylish branches frame and the strong handles on either side make it easy to use as well. This rare and ready to use Arts...

Belleek Coffee Cup Trio, Shamrock Pattern, 1891-1926
Located in London, GB
This is a very charming coffee cup trio made by Belleek in the Shamrock design, consisting of a coffee cup, a saucer and a little cake plate. It has the 2nd Black Mark, which was used between 1891 and 1926. Given the quality of the porcelain we think the date of production is probably closer to 1891 than 1926. If you ever thought Belleek fine china looks, sounds and feels unique, you are right. There is a back story to this extraordinarily fine Irish eggshell porcelain, which has an unusually high amount of "frit" and therefore is thinner and finer than any other china. Pottery in Belleek (in the now Northern-Irish area of Fermanagh) had started in 1849 with John Caldwell Bloomfield, who was a wealthy land owner. During the Irish famine...

Rare Dutch Church Interior Rozenburg Porcelain Tile Painting After J. Bosboom
Located in Lisse, NL
Beautiful large tile painting of a Gothic church interior by W.B. van Horssen (1863-1931). We very recently purchased a small collection of very rare antique plaques, tiles and vases by some of the best known maker's in the history of Dutch ceramics. This unique, hand-crafted and hand-painted work of art is the first one of that collection and this stunning and rare, single tiles plaque is in its original wooden frame. Because of their contrasting colors, the frame and tile painting go together really well. And these are in fact two works of art, because both the stunningly hand-painted tile and the wooden frame are as good as they come. With the borders of the frame coming as far outward as they do and the Gothic church interior that is drawing your attention deep into the back of the church, they really complement each other. However beautiful the frame is, this antique ofcourse is about the painting and this particular painting is by one of Rozenburg's finest (Wijnand Bastiaan van Horssen) who has perfectly managed to enhance the depth that is already in this composition, thus creating a visual effect that is an absolute joy to look at. By the way, the price that you see on the 'sticker' that the former owner put on the back after he had purchased this piece was put there in the 'old days' when we still had the Dutch guilder. The original painting of the Nieuwe Kerk in the Hague Holland (built in circa 1650) was by J. Bosboom. Besides one small old crack and a few minor imperfections to the frame, this unique and wonderful work of art is in very good condition still and may it grace the home or chapel of a Gothic style enthousiast soon. Mind you, because of their relative fragility very few of these amazing and high value works of art are still around. Rozenburg of the Hague, where this unique tile painting was created, was always one of the greats in Dutch ceramics and many of their works grace museums all over Europe. Rozenburg’s shareholders included the likes of the marine painter H.W. Mesdag (1831-1915) and the poet and literary critic Carel Vosmaer (1826-1888), and its tile painters numbered rising artists like Willem de Zwart...

Located in Big Flats, NY
A large and rare faience Art Nouveau Austrian Elvir Otto for Amphora Templitz (Reissner, Stellmacher & Kessel) pottery vase of the "Brittany Farmers" collection (1909-1910, inspired by the Brittany farm life, North West France) offers oversized and flared cylindrical form with high relief scenic landscape having farmer and crop fields, iridescent matte glazing with soft gilding, marked on base with Aphora, Austria and crown stamps as photographed, c1920 Measures - 16.5''H x 7.5''W x 7.5''D Additional Information: This large vase is made by Amphora, Turn-Teplitz Region of Bohemia Austria and was designed by Elvir Otto who worked for the Amphora works around 1909. This series is inspired by the Brittany (North West France) farm life. The decor is in high relief and colored in earthen tintes. Manufacturer Amphora Eduard Stellmacher and the brothers Hans and Carl RieÃYner lead together with Rudolf Kessler the company, which was grounded in 1892. They were specialized in unique styles and interesting glazes used to create what became known as Amphora pottery. They manufactured special luxury porcelain pieces, since 1894 also porcelain figurines and since 1895 fayences (vases and jardinières), and later special vases with animal motives and figurines. Animal figures, modern pottery with floral ornaments, china, stoneware and ivory-porcelain, decorated with enamel, soft colours and also gilded.
