Hester Bateman. A Very Rare George III Wine Label Made by Hester Bateman in London circa 1780. The Label is modelled in a Hester Bateman design, being of crescent form, with a pretty bright cut zig zag border. The face is also engraved with bright cut bands and foliate designs, as well as the title CLARET. This piece is in excellent condition and is well marked on the reverse with the HB maker's mark twice. A typical Hester Bateman design which seldom appears on the market. Additional information: Length: 1.9 inches, 4.75 cm. Width: 1.25 inches, 3.13 cm.

An exceptional, fine and impressive, set of three antique George III English sterling silver decanter / wine bottle labels; part of our wine related Georgian silverware collection. These exceptional George III sterling silver wine labels have a rectangular shaped form. Each bottle label is embellished with exceptional gadroon ornamentation to the rim, incorporating four scrolling leaf designs. This decoration incorporates a central rectangular cartouche, each engraved with the desirable inscriptions: 'Madeira', 'Claret', and 'Sauterne'.
