About the Item

A very rare pair of George III Neo Classical Salt/Spice Pedestals made in London in 1777 by Robert Hennell. These very rare pieces stand on a very unusual domed foot, with a beaded rim, pierced with vertical pails, to which are applied drapery swags, tied with ribbons. The oval main body also has a beaded rim and is pierced with vertical pails, again decorated with applied drapery swags, interspersed with Classical medallions. The front also displays an oval disc medallion, engraved with a contemporary Crest. Both are in excellent condition, have blue glass liners and are very well marked up in the foot. Again, these are directly influenced in their design by Robert Adam's design books. Additional information: Height: 2.65 inches, 6.63cm. Length: 3.25 inches: 8.13cm. Width: 2.5 inches, 6.25 cm.
