Postmodern Ceramic Vase by Fujimori for Kato Kogei

$199

About

A large ceramic vase in the Japanese Contemporary pattern for Kato Kogei's Fujimori Collection. Fujimori was born in Japan in 1935 and won the National Art Award when he was just 19. He later worked in Chicago as a ceramics designer before returning to Japan in 1963. As Art Director for Kato Kogei Ceramics, he oversaw the design and distribution of his signature line. A perfect 1980s postmodern design with a heavy dose of Memphis Milano influence, including geometric shapes, pops of vibrant color, and beautiful use of negative space, as well as a distinct Japanese brushwork element. In very good vintage condition with no cracks, chips, or crazing. Marked on underside. Measures: 5.5" x 10" x 9".
