This is an antique oil ewer. An Italian, bronze Grand Tour serving jug on stand with Renaissance revival taste, dating to the early Victorian period, circa 1850.   Highly decorative ewer presents Bacchanalian motif Displays a desirable aged patina throughout Lightly weathered bronze presents deep grey hues Enthusiastically adorned with relief detail, for a distinctive appearance   Tall, slender ewer graced with a steep flared rim and sinuous handle Frieze to body presents Bacchus scenes in relief, bordered by ornate scrolled details Standing upon a wide, supportive platter, the central medallion hosts more figural relief characters Rim of platter accentuated with a wide floral border with narrow band to centre   This is a striking antique oil ewer, with appealing Grand Tour charm. Superb weight in the hand and pleasingly ornate. Delivered polished and ready to grace the table.
