About the Item

The jug stands on a narrow flat round unglazed base with a large round bulbous shaped body and with a large shaped raised pouring spout with a wide strap shaped loop handle. The jug is hand painted with a framed crest to the front of the jug with floral painted panels to either side painted in tones of blue, yellow, green and orange on a white ground with a further panel containing blue painted scroll and floral designs where the handle joins the body with green and orange ridging to the handle. A makers mark is painted to the inside edge of the handle with a white glazed interior to the jug. There are a series of collectors labels to the base. Provenance: Acquired from the UK art market. In good condition with professional restoration to the handle and to some chips around the foot rim. These are exceptionally well done and this is a rare and stunning example.
