About the Item

Ceramic decorative pitcher / vase by Dominique Pouchain (circa 1980s). In homage to the style of ceramics created by his father, Jacques Pouchain, Dominique created this piece with earthen hues and a modern motif which swirls around the handled vase. The browns and beiges are interrupted by drips, circles or cloudy shapes of a subtle glazed white. In very good vintage condition commensurate with age. Signed on the underside: 'D Pouchain'. Upon request a video of the piece will be provided. About the artist: French artist Dominique Pouchain was born in 1956, son of well-known ceramicist Jacques Pouchain. Dominique initially created utilitarian pottery but soon after started working on his first animal sculptures. His exhibition at the Atelier des Arts in Paris in 1985 was very fruitful and garnered him the support of three prominent Parisian galleries. In 1989, after the opening of the Galerie in Dieulefit, Pouchain moved from working on functional pieces in favour of sculpture. He has not looked back and is now collected internationally. French Vintage Decorative Pitcher by Vieux Moulin (circa 1960s) - Large
By Vieux Moulin

Decorative ceramic pitcher by Robert Perot, founder of the pottery, Vieux Moulin (circa 1960s), Vallauris, France. Charming earthenware glazed piece with abstract motif in the central decorative band. The motif is reminiscent of a Balinese or African garment pattern with a lovely chocolate brown background and oatmeal hued linear shapes. It suggests movement not dissimilar to a Keith Haring piece. This is an authentic, collectible mid-century modern pottery piece and is entirely unique rather than from a run of many. The underside is impressed with, 'Vieux Moulin Vallauris...
